Doug Birkey is hands down the best agent I've ever worked with. He was constantly accessible. He quickly understood our needs and directed us accordingly. I have already recommended Doug to friends. He is trustworthy and dependable.

My wife and I were first-time home buyers looking for houses in Michigan. Our realtor was Douglas Birkey, and we couldn't have asked for a better man for the job. We took selecting a realtor very seriously. Doug was highly recommended to us by both Judy at 1st Source Bank and Shannon from First Federal Savings Bank. We investigated Doug's Cressy & Everett website and liked his background in building homes. We interviewed with Doug and liked him instantly. During our initial phone interview, Doug gave us very detailed information about how buying a home works. We were first time home buyers, so this knowledge put into simplified terms was very important to us. He gave an overview of the process from making an offer to negotiations, acceptance, and what to expect from our mortgage lender. During house tours, Doug always printed out the listings of the homes we were seeing that day. He usually contacted the seller's agent beforehand and gave us additional information, like how many offers there were, or special conditions or messages from the sellers. Doug had a wonderful attention to detail during any walk-thru, often times pointing out important deal breakers that we wouldn't have thought about. When we put in offers, Doug was very prompt at getting our offer to the seller's agent. Doug was an immense help in making us competitive without overpaying. He also helped us think of conditions that made us stand out besides just more money, such as extended rent-free stays if the seller was interested. Doug is an incredibly kind and professional individual. He's very knowledgeable and patient with any and all questions. If he wasn't sure about something we asked, he did the research and always got back to us that same day. Summer 2022 was a very difficult time for buyers, especially first time buyers like us, but his knowledge and friendly demeanor made the experience enjoyable. He was an absolute pleasure to work with, and we can't recommend him highly enough to friends and family. Doug Birkey, and Cressy & Everett as a whole, blew our expectations away. Doug helped us find our first dream home, and became a long-time friend of ours along the way. He was even kind enough to give us a housewarming gift: a watercolor of our new house! I will always recommend Doug to my friends and family as a realtor for Indiana or Michigan.

After 10+ yrs of renting in Chicago, my wife and I purchased our first home in Granger, IN to get closer to friends and family. We had no idea where to start, and Doug was referred to us. From my experience in sales... there are "salespeople" - and there are people who are truly passionate about their craft and helping others. That's Doug. We immediately hit it off while talking through our needs, what to expect, market conditions etc., and decided to move forward with him as our agent. Our entire experience with him was seamless, easy and enjoyable. His tenure and knowledge in the industry puts him well above the rest, and he went out of his way throughout the entirety of our purchase to ensure we were not stressed / understood what was going on and made it his goal to help us find exactly what we were after. Fast forward, we're in our dreamhouse and could not be happier with the experience Doug provided and have already referred him to friends and family looking to both buy / sell. Doug was phenomenal with the purchasing process. He knew comparable houses in the area, what they were selling for and suggested a price we go in at and we got our house for 5% less than asking price. Doug's communication and insight were deeply appreciated during this process. If we ever had any questions, Doug was always a quick text/phone call away. Doug has been such a pleasure to work with. This is the second time we've worked with him and couldn't imagine using another realtor. When we decided to move back into the area, there was no doubt who we would want to work with again. Doug Birkey went above and beyond with the purchase of our new home and we can’t wait to work with him on the selling of our current home. He made time available when we were looking, even in the evenings or weekends. We had a little set back on the purchase of our new home with the install of a new furnace, no fault of his and he was right there to make it right. I have a huge amount of respect for him and would highly recommend him to anyone.

Doug was able to sell my condo in record time despite the fact that I and my son live way out of town (actually in opposite sides of the country, with South Bend being in the middle!) I picked Doug Birkey for selling this property because I remembered him as a polite, nice guy when we went to high school together 40 years ago. At that point, even as a high school young man, he exuded a sense that things would be better with him entering the room. He was earnest and sincere. I'm pleased to let anyone know that my experience of him these many years later show that these traits are still with him. Of particular value to me was that Doug hit the right mark with communication. He kept me in the loop without overwhelming me with any extra messages. I felt that he was respectful of my time, and was generous with his own. I appreciate Doug's work throughout the sales process. I felt supported and guided with best decisions for my family. He understood my goals and needs and met them. It is hard to imagine improving anything about his work with me. Due to happenstance, I have been involved in six real estate sales in three years. This was my best experience of all of them. It was wonderful working with him! I was satisfied with every aspect of the sale. When multiple interested parties came forward immediately, Doug was helpful to think through how to proceed. While this is a nice problem, I found it stressful to consider how to go forward with an eye on acting respectfully toward everyone involved. It was clear that Doug was experienced with these matters, and nicely balanced his role as advisor with helping me feel in charge of final decisions.

I knew Mr. Birkey years ago as his children attended the same school as mine. Also, his daughter married the son of a very close friend of mine, they also highly recommended him. He was always available to answer my questions or concerns via email, phone or texting. Mr. Birkey is very professional and takes the time to explain all the steps of the listing, preparing your home for listing, showings, inspections, and gives a detailed breakdown of expenses for closing.
